Diversity and Inclusion Officer

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are foundational to the vision and mission of Mapúa University in creating a nurturing environment wherein ALL learners can grow their knowledge, develop their talents and skills, and eventually contribute to global and national development, societal progress, and environmental protection and preservation.

With our DEI initiatives, we hope to achieve the following:

  • Achievement and enhancement of educational outcomes
  • Foster social equity and a sense of belonging
  • Graduate students ready to be part of a diverse and global workforce
  • Drive innovation in institutional policies, curricula, and processes 

  1. Create policies that promote, value, and facilitate diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  2. Leads in the university’s diversity and inclusion efforts by spearheading educational campaigns and discussions that help embrace and accommodate people with diverse backgrounds. 
  3. Works with internal departments for projects ensuring the work environment is open, friendly, and safe, promoting diversity and inclusion for employees and students.
  4. Develop programs and create activities at least 2-3 in a year that encourage, practice, and safeguard diversity, embracing race, gender, socioeconomic status, religion, age, or nationality that help create an inclusive work environment and culture, including recommendations for disability services and accommodations. 
  5. Partner with Human Resources to ensure the hiring process meets equal opportunity guidelines. 
  6. Oversee all communication channels to ensure the use of non-discriminatory language. 
  7. Maintain compliance with national and local regulations on equality and diversity.
